Joint mobilization

Gliding of the joint is usually used to improve motion and normalize joint function. Joint mobilization also has the added benefit of controlling pain.

Joint mobilization is the careful use of skilled graded forces to move a joint in a desired direction. Unlike stretching of a muscle joint mobilization is specific to the capsule of the joint itself.

Muscle Energy Technique

Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a gentle manual therapy intervention that mobilizes joints and relaxes muscles using subtle muscle contractions to relax hypertonic tissue and mobilize joints through active participation of both the therapist and patient.

MET is an effective alternative to joint manipulation and can restore leg length discrepancies, pelvic obliquities, postural defects, and spinal rotations.

Percussive therapy

Percussive therapy works at the muscular level and can completely eliminate muscle soreness. When injuries or soreness through trauma or vigorous training occurs the alignment of muscle fibers a disrupted and can become knotted. Part of what percusión  does is increase blood flow to a specific muscle area, which can help reduce inflammation and muscle tension and break up those knots that linger after disruption.

For benefits to ligaments, fascia, and tendons Percussive massage (also called “deep connective tissue stimulation”) is beneficial for Relaxing of thickened connective tissue and fascia. Breaking down of adhesions and internal scar tissue that also occur at this level and can be much longer lasting than muscle injuries.

Percussion massage is even effective healing tissues after surgery.

Cupping
therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system. Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism.

TREATMENTS

Electrical Stimulation

The device uses low levels of energy, or photons. Unlike higher-frequency lasers used for surgery, they don't heat or cut your skin. Photons penetrate deep into a painful joint. The light triggers chemical changes that help damaged cells and tissues heal and regrow. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light cause a reaction, and the damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration.

THE BENEFITS CLIENTS MAY EXPERIENCE

  • Decrease pain

  • Muscle re-education and Strengthening

  • Increase range of motion

  • Increase circulation

  • Decrease spasticity

  • Reduce edema

  • Decrease inflammation

  • Improve overall function

Traction
Day_5_10_28_200.png

Traction is believed to help relieve sprains and spasms of the neck and back muscles. By stretching apart the vertebrae of the spine, traction can help relieve pain caused by worn spinal disks.

Traction can free nerves pinched by compression between vertebrae. Spinal traction procedures aimed to aid in removing additional pressure on the intervertebral discs helps to restore or repair herniated or bulging spinal discs and other vertebral derangements, and can eliminate the need for surgery.

Cold laser therapy is low-intensity laser therapy that stimulates healing while using low levels of light.

The technique is called “cold” laser therapy because the low levels of light aren’t enough to heat your body’s tissue. The level of light is low when compared to other forms of laser therapy, such as those used to destroy tumors and coagulate tissue.

Trigger Point Massage Therapy

A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body.  Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release.  The results and benefits of trigger point massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscles thus alleviating pain.
